| Several of these large and fairly crude handaxes were found
at location ASPS-20.
Lower Paleolithic occurrences are rare thus far. |
 |
| We have found a few isolated handaxes like this one on the
High Desert. |
 |
| This classic, Middle Paleolithic, Nubian core was found during the 2000 survey
season. Both Levallois and Nubian cores are numerous in our survey area. |
 |
| There are also a few locations with late Upper Paleolithic or
Neolithic elements. One of these is ASPS-46. (drawing by Laurence Chiotti) |
 |
| This core and the flakes that refit to it were found during
the 2000 survey (ASPS-19). Refits, showing the horizontal integrity of the
these surface occurrences, are common. |
