| One innovation that we started this
year was to use bar codes to identify individual artifacts and screened
samples. Although artifact numbers are still written on the pieces
themselves with indelible ink, each artifact is stored in its own plastic
bag (to protect it from accidental damage). A label on the bag is
printed with the bar code ID number, which can then be scanned in during
analysis, photography, illustration, etc. This helps to reduce errors
caused by accidentally typing in an incorrect ID number by hand. |
