Excavation
While working with the collection, it became clear that before the site could be published some new excavations would be required.  Thus, in 2000 we began a four year project to re-sample the site of Pech IV.  The initial goals of this project were as follows:
  • Complete the geological descriptions of the sequence
  • Study to the site formation processes
  • Obtain dates
  • Collect new archaeological samples to assess the degree of collection bias in the existing collection
2003 was the final year of excavation. Since then we have been analyzing the material and preparing a final monograph.
