Combe-Capelle Bas - Ami - Level III

Level III represented more or less the same industry as that of Levels II, IV and V, with a variety of scrapers, often on Clactonian-like flakes. However, Bourgon (1957:83-84) recognized a relatively elevated Levallois Index for this level (IL=33.3), which in conjunction with the numerous scrapers (over 53 percent), made this industry Charentian in nature, but of the Ferrassie variety because of the high representation of Levallois. He also noted three bifaces and some denticulates and backed knives.
